In 1963, the founders of Wang Yung-ching recognized the crucial importance of "industrial design" in the development of industries. Consequently, the Industrial Design Department was established at Ming Chi Institute of Technology, and an "Art Department" was set up at the Kaohsiung factory to design patterns for PVC film, enhancing the added value of plastic products. Subsequently, the "Industrial Design Department" was established to lead new product development, and regular "New Product Launch Events" were held to guide industry fashion trends, earning widespread recognition.
Since its establishment, the department has kept pace with the times in terms of "new technologies," "new equipment," and "new concepts." This includes staying current with trends such as Spatial design, 3D rendering, VR design, generative AI applications, internet media marketing, live streaming, large-scale printing, UV printing, advanced scanning with CRUSE, professional photography and video studios, 360 panorama production, aerial photography, and more – all in sync with industry advancements, continuously innovating.
In 2016, the department was renamed the "Innovation Design Center," integrating corporate resources to serve the entire enterprise. The focus shifted to creating added value for products, enhancing the Formosa Plastics Group image, and extensively exploring the field of preventive medicine, contributing to the health maintenance of various age groups.
