Sheet moulding compound (SMC) or sheet moulding composite is a ready to mould glass-fibre reinforced polyester material primarily used in compression moulding. SMC are widely used in a large diversity of fields of applications such as building material, aerospace, agricultural, rail and marine, electrical and energy, domestic appliance, and medical sectors, however the automotive and truck industries remain the drivers of SMC technology.
