What is "PEPA"?
"PEPA" is the registered trademark of Nanya plastics third division. The name concept of "PEPA" is derived from "Pearl" and "Paper". Please refer to our company's trademark usage rules when using the PEPA name.
How is PEPA produced?
PEPA is a polypropylene (PP) film with calcium carbonate produced by extrusion (3-layer or 5-layer co-extrusion) . The main components are polypropylene and calcium carbonate. The production of PEPA is the melting polypropylene and calcium carbonate through an extruder, through a T-die head, condense into a sheet and stretch it vertically and horizontally in a special stretching machine, And then corona treatment.
What are the applications of PEPA?
PEPA have various applications. With their excellent printability and plastic functionality, they have been used in different label applications. Other applications are used for coated substrates, various commercial printing applications, and packaging applications. Please refer to the applications note page for more introduction.
How long has PEPA been launched?
Based on the fact that in the past half a century, human civilization has continued to develop rapidly and exhausted the use of environmental resources, causing environmental changes and destruction, which gradually affects human life. Since the natural paper needed by human civilization, the cartons and pallets needed by industrial development, etc., are all made of trees as raw materials, if we do not try to replace natural paper, we believe that the trees will decrease instead of increase. Based on the fact that, Nanya Company has started research and development in 1991 and spent tens of millions of dollars in seven years. It was finally officially launched in May 1998. Synthetic paper with PP as the main raw material has a lower proportion than ordinary synthetic paper. It has good stiffiness, good opacity, and low price. It is most likely to replace the synthetic paper of natural paper. We registered the trade name of this new product as PEPA.
What environmental protection measures has Nanya "PEPA" adopted?
The plant of PEPA has passed the ISO14001 certification, and we continue to implement various active environmental friendly improvement, such as the comprehensive change to the water-based coating system many years ago. In addition, in any production process, it is controlled not to use toxic substances (such as lead, hexavalent chromium, mercury, cadmium, BHA, phthalate) or other materials that seriously affect the environment.
What is SGS?
SGS Group is a multinational group headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, which specializes in providing testing, inspection and certification services.
What is FDA?
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is a federal government agency directly under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Supervise and manage equipment, radioactive equipment, veterinary drugs, and cosmetics. It is also responsible for the implementation of Article 361 of the Public Health Service Act, including inspections of public health conditions and interstate travel and transportation. Existing disease control and so on.
What is RoHS 2.0?
Restriction of Hazardous Substances has prohibited the use of four heavy metals including lead, cadmium, mercury, and hexavalent chromium and two brominated flame retardants such as PBB and PBDE in electronic and electrical equipment since July 2006. The European Union revised Directive 2011/65/EU on March 31, 2015, and issued Directive (EU) 2015/863, which pointed out that the four plasticizers of DEHP, BBP, DBP and DIBP were added to the list. In short, the 10 controlled substances regulated by RoHS 2.0 are Pb, Cd, Hg, Cr6+, PBBs, PBDEs, DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP.
What is plasticizer?
Plasticizer is a kind of material that can change the physical properties of the material when it is formed, can make the material softer and easier to process, or make the finished product soft, easy to bend, and fold. Because of its solvent and solubilizer characteristics, it is also used in daily necessities. , The products added with plasticizers include plastics, concrete, wall plaster, cement and plaster, etc., but they cannot be added to food. There are more than one hundred types of plasticizers, but the most commonly used are phthalate compounds, such as DBP, DEHP, DINP, DIDP, BBP and DNOP.
What is halogen?
Luorine, Chlorine, Bromine, Iodine and Astatine (five elements) are collectively referred to as halogen. Among them, astatine is a radioactive element, and the halogens usually referred to are four elements such as fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine.
What are PFOA and PFOS?
Perfluoroalkane compounds are synthetic compounds and do not naturally exist in the environment. Chemical substances belonging to perfluoroalkane compounds include perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS).
What is PAHs?
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, also known as polycyclic aromatic compounds or polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, have more than 100 chemical structural formulas. It is an aromatic hydrocarbon compound composed of aromatic rings that do not contain heterocycles or substituents. Many of them are known or potential carcinogens. On January 17, 2019, the EU REACH regulation announced 6 new substances of high concern, including 4 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).

Q: Is "PEPA" okay to be used in copy machine or laser printers?
No. Exposure to the high temperatures generated by ordinary copy machine can cause deformation of the "PEPA", which may cause unexpected problems. Please avoid such applications.
Q: Is it okay to be used in inkjet printers?
There are two ways to apply "PEPA" to inkjet printers: (1) If you are using UV or Latex ink system inkjet printers, you can directly use coated "PEPA" products for printing. (2) If you are using a water-based or oil-based (Solvent & Eco-Solvent) ink system inkjet printer, you need to coat the ink-absorbing layer on the surface of the "PEPA" product before printing.
Q: Is it require special ink?
Yes. PEPA is the same as most synthetic papers. In order to achieve proper ink drying speed and ink adhesion strength, we recommend that you use special ink for synthetic paper to achieve the best printing effect. If your printing process does not use UV or oven drying, please choose oxidation drying ink. Please refer to the printing precautions page for more detailed information.
Q: What should I pay attention to when printing "PEPA"?
Before printing, please make sure to consider the type of ink, drying time, preparation before printing, the use of powder spray, etc. Please refer to the printing precautions page for more detailed information.
